About Art&Eats
Art&Eats is a community-driven arts festival created to celebrate creativity, connection and local talent while giving back to the community.
Bringing together artists, musicians, photographers, food vendors and neighbours, Art&Eats offers a welcoming, inclusive space where people can gather, share experiences and support the creative spirit of Brisbane’s north-western suburbs.
At its core, Art&Eats is about connection. Connection between people, between art forms, and between creativity and purpose, with all proceeds from the event supporting meaningful community work through our charity partner, Trek2Health.
The Art & Eats Story
Art&Eats began in 2024 with a simple but powerful idea: to create a local event that brought people together through art, music and food, while supporting a cause that genuinely matters to the community.
Co-founded by Katherine Kemp and Colin Bushell, the inaugural event exceeded expectations, featuring local artists, live music, food trucks, a bar and a major raffle. The first year raised over $5,000 for Trek2Health and received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community.
In 2025, Art&Eats grew in scale and ambition, expanding the live music programme, introducing dance performances, welcoming more artists and food vendors, and raising over $8,000 for charity.
For 2026, Art&Eats moved to a Saturday afternoon and evening format, allowing the festival to become more immersive, accessible and family-friendly, with expanded creative opportunities and a growing programme that continues to evolve each year.
The Founders
Art&Eats is led by two passionate local business owners and creatives who share a strong belief in community, storytelling and the arts.
Katherine Kemp
Founder | Owner, Ruby Red Jewellery
Katherine Kemp is the owner of Ruby Red Jewellery in The Gap and a long-standing advocate for local creativity and community connection.
Her journey into gemstones began in 2002 and led to formal gemmological training with the Gemmological Association of Australia. Over more than a decade, Katherine developed extensive experience working with coloured gemstones, diamonds, pearls, jewellery design and manufacturing across Sydney and Brisbane.
In 2010, she founded her own bespoke jewellery practice, which evolved into Ruby Red Jewellery, a business grounded in craftsmanship, sustainability and deeply personal service. Community has always been central to Katherine’s work, with a strong belief that local businesses thrive through trust, collaboration and giving back.
Katherine completed an MBA through Ducere Global Business School in 2024 and a Diploma of Jewellery Valuation with the National Council of Jewellery Valuers in 2025. Through Art&Eats, she is passionate about creating spaces that bring people together and refocus attention on the arts in an increasingly fast-paced digital world.
